KARATE BY THE SEA DOJO DRESS CODE
Student Level: White - Purple Belts (Adults & Juniors)
Student Level: White - Purple Belts (Adults & Juniors)
The dress code for students is a white dogi (uniform). Students should maintain a clean gi at all times.
Assistant Instructor and Instructor Levels: Brown & Black Belts (Adults & Juniors)
The primary and standard dogi/uniform color will remain as white at our Dojo. However, in keeping with, and respecting Hanshi Conley's Kenpo (Okinawan & American) roots, as we present Shorin Kenpo Karate> a coupling of Matsubayashi Shorin Ryu with White Crane & concepts of American Kenpo; instructor and assistant instructor staff (brown & black belts) only will now be allowed to wear a black gi. Student ranks (white thru purple) will remain wearing a white gi. Stipulation: staff must all own and wear a white gi for formal Dojo functions and/or outside functions, unless otherwise waivered by the Group Senior Instructor(s).
Additionally, and this reflects the policies of Hanshisei Kise's Matsumura Seito Federation, the "Salt 'N Pepper" combo. White jacket/black pants, will be permissible, and can be worn by Dojo Black Belt Assistant Instructors.
All Black Belts may wear a white gi jacket with black gi pants ("salt n' pepper"). Group Senior (Head) Instructors, 5th Dan and up, can wear a black gi jacket with white gi pants.
